New Delhi Amidst the second wave of Corona virus epidemic in the country, the government has ordered an order for 4.5 lakh doses of the anti-virus drug Remdesivir, of which the first shipment of 75,000 vials is expected to reach India on Friday. The Ministry of Fertilizers and Chemicals has given this information in a statement.
The ministry has said that to overcome the shortage of this medicine in the country, the government has started importing Remedesivir. Its first batch of 75,000 vials will reach India on Friday. Demand of Remadecivir has increased manifold with cases of corona virus infection increasing rapidly in the country. This anti-virus drug is used in the treatment of Kovid-19 infection.
The ministry release said that the state-owned HLL Lifecare Limited has ordered US-based company M / s Gilead Sciences Inc. and Egyptian pharmaceutical company M / s Eva Pharma for a dose of four and a half million Remedesivir. It said that it is believed that Gilead Sciences will send 75,000 to one lakh doses to India within the next one to two days. After this, on May 15 or before, one lakh more medicine vials will reach India.
The release said that at the same time, Eva Pharma will send ten thousand doses in the beginning and after that, every 15 days till July, will continue to send 50 thousand vials. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has said that it has also increased the production capacity of Remedisvir in the country. He said that as on April 27, the production capacity of seven licensed domestic manufacturers in the country has increased from 38 lakh vials per month to 1.03 crore vials per month. Pharmaceutical companies have supplied 13.73 lakh vials across the country within the last seven days.
